All-NBA Team Selection
Annual recognition of the 15 best players in the league — First, Second, and Third Team — a critical HOF credential.
All-NBA Teams are selected annually by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters, recognizing the 15 best players in the league across three teams (First, Second, Third). The selections are position-based: two guards, two forwards, and one center per team.
All-NBA selections are arguably the single most important credential for NBA Hall of Fame candidacy. The threshold for induction correlates strongly with total All-NBA selections: - 10+ selections: near-certain first-ballot Hall of Famer - 6–9 selections: strong Hall of Fame case - 3–5 selections: borderline, needs supporting credentials - 1–2 selections: unlikely to be inducted on All-NBA alone
First Team selections carry more weight than Second or Third Team, but all three count toward the overall tally.
AllFame incorporates All-NBA selections in the Awards & Selections dimension (20% of the HOF Score), with additional weight for First Team selections.
