Offensive / Defensive Rating
Points produced (or allowed) per 100 possessions — the standard pace-adjusted efficiency measures in basketball.
Offensive Rating (ORtg) estimates the points a player produces per 100 possessions. Defensive Rating (DRtg) estimates the points allowed per 100 possessions while a player is on the court. Net Rating is the difference — positive means the team outscored opponents with that player on the floor.
Individual Offensive Rating benchmarks: - 120+: elite offensive contributor - 110–119: above average - 105–109: average - Below 105: below average
These ratings are pace-adjusted, meaning they allow fair comparison between teams and eras that play at different speeds. A player on a fast-paced team might score more total points but have the same Offensive Rating as a player on a slow-paced team.
For Hall of Fame analysis, sustained elite Offensive Rating (especially combined with reasonable Defensive Rating) signals efficient, high-impact play. AllFame uses these ratings as supporting context for the Peak Performance and Career Value dimensions.
